Mazes for Preschoolers: Free Printable Mazes and Tips
By Sadia Afrin, Early Childhood Educator ยท 3 min read
Mazes build planning and pencil control. Here are three free mazes and tips for solving them.
Mazes are a classic for good reason. They teach children to plan ahead, notice dead ends and steer a pencil with care.
What mazes teach
- Planning and problem solving
- Pencil control
- Focus and patience
- Trying again after a dead end
Tips for solving mazes
- Trace the path with a finger first.
- Start at the green dot.
- If you hit a dead end, go back and try another way.
- Try looking from the end back to the start.
- Use a pencil so you can rub out.
Help without taking over
Ask questions like Which way looks open? rather than showing the path. Celebrate trying again.
