Numbers 1–20 Worksheets: A Free Sample Pack
By Sadia Afrin, Early Childhood Educator · 3 min read
Once children can count to 20, they can start filling in missing numbers and finding what comes before and after.
After counting and tracing, the next step is understanding the order of numbers. Missing number and before and after activities help children see the number line in their head.
What is in the pack
- Missing numbers: fill in the gaps in a number line.
- Before and after: write the number that comes before and after.
Why order matters
Knowing that 12 comes after 11 and before 13 helps children count on, compare numbers and later add and subtract.
How to use it
- Count from 1 to 20 together first.
- Do the missing numbers page with a finger on the number line.
- Do before and after with a number chart nearby.
- Check answers by counting out loud.
Tips
- Use a number chart if your child gets stuck.
- Work on one page a day.
- Say the number sequence out loud.
- Celebrate each finished page.
Counting with Aussie Animals includes number sequencing pages along with tracing and counting for 1 to 20.
